Parish Church of St. Mary Magdalene
A funeral or memorial service in the village church is a fitting and personal tribute to a loved one’s memory, particularly if it is held in familiar and comtemplative surroundings both within and amongst their community.
Local residents will wish to pay their last respects to a friend, neighbour or acquaintance, but for some, it can be more difficult to attend a crematorium chapel service in Brighton, Worthing or Worth (Crawley) because of accessibility concerns or time constraints.
Our beautiful 12th century Anglican parish church of St. Mary Magdalene is steeped in history and has been serving the local community for over 800 years.
With seating for 150 guests (and 50 standing), it has step free wheelchair access, adjacent car parking (with disabled provision), toilet with disability access and baby changing facilities and is fully heated.
St. Mary Magdalene also benefits from a substantial traditional pipe organ, full sound system with hearing induction loop, audio playback/record capability and is broadband enabled for livestreaming by a 3rd party provider.
In addition, we are able to offer facilities to serve light refreshments after the service whilst the immediate family and close friends attend the crematorium for a private committal. Alternatively, the village hall may also be available for hire.
Services are conducted by one of our parish priests and are not restricted by time limits imposed at the crematorium.
